Evergreen Electromotive  --  Plug-in Electric Vehicles

About Evergreen

Evergreen EV was started in 2007 with the idea to build practical and usable fully electric vehicles using the best of today's available technology. We are fans of EVs and have been using them for awhile but have been disappointed in what we can actual purchase. Today's vehicles are almost entirely conversions of Internal Combustions Engine (ICE) cars resulting in poor EV performance.

Until now 25 MPH Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEV) have been the most widely available type of EV. NEVs have failed to grab wide scale acceptance due to their speed limitations and the fact that most are street legal golf carts, not something you want to take the kids to school in or drive to work.

Uber-EVs have begun to show up and grab headlines but these cars are for the extremely wealthy and are impractical two-seaters, generally in a sports car configuration.

Hello MSV

In 2007 two states (Montana and Washington) passed new legislation allowing a new class of EVs known as Medium Speed Vehicles (MSV). So far in 2008 five more states have passed similar legislation. MSVs are 35 MPH vehicles not intended for highway use.

MSVs offer a practical solution for those interested in shifting from oil to electric based transportation!

MSV Facts

  • Must pass U.S. FMVSS500 safety standard.
  • Speed limited to 35 MPH.
  • In most states legal on roads with posted speeds of 40 or 45 MPH (check your states laws for specifics).
  • Currently legal in: Montana, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Illinois.
  • Initiatives for MSV laws in all remaining states. Get politically active!
